Quality of Life

This is a page about the experience of wellness and its magical connection to weight loss, or perhaps it’s the other way around. If you are anything like the majority of people, you spend at least some of your spare time scrolling through pages on the Internet, researching topics that impact your health and life in general. Adults, it seems, are developing an increased level of interest in their health, quality of life and general well-being. In particular, they are keen to learn and understand the aspects and interventions that they can introduce themselves without any medical intervention. Google searches around Lifespan vs. healthspan are growing on a daily basis.

Weight Loss always equates to wellness; it is almost as if the two conditions are somehow connected. However, it is a surprising fact that wellness is often not the main reason, the driver, for a person to start out on their weight-loss journey. We’ve recently added an exciting post about longevity and improved health: Senolytics and Telomeres. The driver around weight loss is focused more on aesthetics, how a person is going to look on the beach this summer or in their wedding dress. The fact that obesity, being overweight, is the single most significant factor around a person’s lifespan, the number of years between birth and death, is not as high up the list as it maybe should be.

Weight Loss to Wellness

Of course, taking control of their weight and their general diet are on the self-help list. The effects of being overweight on a person’s health are almost too numerous to mention. As an example, last year, type 2 diabetes, which is a crucial indicator of obesity, killed in excess of 1.5 million people. Research suggests that as many as 175 million adults worldwide are walking around, not knowing that they even have diabetes! But diabetes is sadly just one example.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, obesity is the most potent predictor of health and longevity. And recently, the media has been ‘busy’ informing anyone who was interested about the connection between losing weight and increasing the number of healthy years of life. This is a topic that we have always found to be very interesting. Consequently, we have two dedicated pages in our My Weigh Less Blog section. Firstly: Can Reversing Obesity Extend Your Life? And also, take a look at Lose Weight, Live Longer.

Life Span - Health Span

One obvious connection between weight loss and wellness that can be observed when a person reaches their target weight is the profound psychological changes that occur. We have been privileged to see and experience this with clients on multiple occasions. People become more outgoing; they have an abundance of excess energy. Their level of self-esteem and self-confidence is literally through the roof. You can observe how the previous overweight person, who was an introvert, sad and lacking in confidence, changes almost overnight. Their persona transforms them to a level where they almost light up a room, whereas before, they were maybe invisible.

Julie had suffered from being overweight since giving birth to her daughters. She was just about to commit to having weight-loss surgery, a Surgical Gastric Band, when at the last minute, her husband convinced her to reconsider and try something less drastic. So, one month later, Julie arrived at our clinic to go through our Gastric Mind Band therapy. Following her treatment with us, she went on to lose 60 pounds, and, for the first time in many years, she was at her target weight. She told us that life had never been better. She was also finally enjoying beach holidays again and not feeling embarrassed about wearing a swimsuit. But the main event was to follow…

Early Detection Saved My Life

One morning, when she was drying herself following her shower, she noticed a very small ‘pea’ size lump in her breast. Initially, as it was so small, she was not too concerned. A couple of weeks later, she showed it to her doctor, who immediately referred her to a breast clinic, where she had a mammogram, followed by a biopsy, which confirmed that it was, in fact, cancerous. Shortly afterwards, it was surgically removed. And thankfully, because she had discovered the lump so quickly, the cancer was still in the very early stages and had not spread. Her doctor subsequently told her that if she had not lost the weight, reducing the amount of fatty tissues around her breasts, the small lump would probably have remained undetected, with potentially life-threatening results.

Another of our clients, Kay Lindley, was 59 years of age when she began her treatment. She was a year away from retiring from her position as headteacher in a primary school, and she had grand plans to travel the world and make the most of her retirement. However, because of her weight, she had been a type 2 diabetic for ten years. Additionally, she was also suffering from severe arthritis, resulting in ever-worsening mobility issues. Her travel plans were starting to seem like an impossibility. She weighed 22 1/2 stone, or 315 pounds. So, she decided enough was enough and came to our clinic to experience our weight-loss treatment. Kay’s before and after photos are below.

how I reversed my type 2 diabetes

After 25 weeks, Kay had lost an incredible 70 pounds. Following a visit to her diabetes nurse, her levels of medication were slashed by 50%! But that was just the beginning; Kay went on to lose a whopping 105 pounds. She reversed the decade of diabetes issues; the arthritis went into remission, and she was invited to appear on national TV in the UK. It was a classic example of ‘Weight Loss Delivering Wellness’. Needless to say, more than ten years down the line, Kay is still enjoying a very active retirement. She even got to fulfil her ambition of climbing the Great Wall of China! You can read her complete verified case study and see her before and after photos in the Success Stories section of this site.

Alan had been overweight for over 30 years. He was diagnosed with fatty liver disease by his consultant at Kingston Hospital in London. Additionally, he was borderline diabetic and had extremely high blood pressure with very elevated cholesterol levels. His consultant is on record as saying, “Alan, if you don’t do something with your weight very quickly, you will die from a heart attack or suffer a stroke”. That was in late 2020. His before and after photo is below.

Weight Loss to Wellness

Alan contacted us in 2021. And after following the programme, he went on to lose 75 pounds of excess weight. Recently, he returned to Kingston Hospital to see his consultant. He was naturally concerned about fatty liver disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and elevated levels of cholesterol.

Blood spectrum tests that were taken during the visit indicated, to his consultant’s surprise, normal levels in all departments. Everything has reversed itself and returned to medically acceptable levels again. Alan has now had four full-spectrum blood tests this year. Each test has confirmed that everything is now at entirely normal levels.

The consultants at Kingston Hospital said, “Their intervention has quite possibly added 8 to 10 years to your life!” Another example of Weight Loss resulting in Wellness.

Weight Loss to Wellness

When we met Jackie, she had been diagnosed with arrhythmia and a hiatus hernia. During the previous few years, she was diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome, Insulin Resistance and, more recently, Fatty Liver Disease. She was also having regular appointments with an endocrinologist. As a result, she was prescribed various different medications for each condition. Jackie has lost just over 70 pounds and is continuing to lose weight. However, since her dramatic weight loss, and to her doctor’s amazement, she no longer has Fatty Liver Disease. Additionally, after three years, she is finally off the metformin. She has now been discharged by the cardiologist, who has amazed her doctors and specialists.

Jackie’s sister, Sharon, had been suffering from depression. After watching her sister’s weight literally fall off, she decided to complete the treatment as well. Sharon also lost over 70 pounds, and, as you would expect, the depression was replaced with elation, incredible self-confidence, and a feeling of self-esteem she had never in her life experienced. The two sisters appeared on the This Morning TV show with Eamonn Holmes, the photo below.

During the twelve one-hour sessions that make up the programme, dieters learn about aspects of obesity and weight loss that they may have never associated as being connected. The programme has been built around a combination of empirically proven interventions. These include TactileCBT, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming, as well as Clinical Hypnotherapy. The treatment is designed to connect your mind with your body, delivering a simple, clean connection between Weight Loss and Wellness.

Over a thousand people travelled from around the world to experience our weight-loss treatment. Our clients include celebrities, members of the public and medical professionals, including doctors, dentists, nurses, anaesthetists and consultant surgeons. Some clients simply want to shed their excess weight to look better. However, others tell us that health is the main reason. Many of our past clients have successfully reversed medical conditions such as insulin resistance, diabetes, high blood pressure, and fatty liver disease, whereas others have managed to avoid having knee or hip replacement surgery. You may like to read more details on our Medical Endorsements page.

Our weight-loss approach has been the subject of continued research and development over the last thirteen years. Sharon, above, lost 75 pounds. Our youngest client was just fourteen, and the oldest was eighty-six. Some clients wished to lose just a few pounds to fit into their wedding dress. But others, like Sarah below, went on to lose over 140 pounds. As a result, she was featured globally on TV and in the press. Our psychology-focused weight loss programme provides a ‘Psychological Reset’ for those wishing to lose weight. The programme incorporates an updated version of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, TCBT, which is the subject of our bestselling book, published globally by Hay House. Professor Windy Dryden of Goldsmiths University in London endorsed the book, and Professor Philip Zimbardo of Stanford University in the USA wrote the foreword. We also incorporate the latest developments around Neuroplasticity and Neuro-Linguistic Programming along with many other disciplines. One component of our psychology-focused weight loss programme provides a ‘Psychological Reset’. At this statement, ‘Psychological Reset,’ we have observed many people raising their eyebrows; see below.

Let me give you a couple of examples: the programme will allow you to make a number of simple cognitive changes in your thought processes…small changes that deliver ‘massive results’. For example, think for a moment how different your relationship with food and weight loss would be if we re-programmed your subconscious mind to effortlessly replace the word “want” with the word “need”? The result, imagine you are out having dinner with friends, and after ordering a burger, instead of hearing the waiter asking: “Do you ‘want’ fries with that?” without thinking, you hear and automatically process the question as: “Do you ‘need’ fries with that?” Things would be very different, right? You see, at a cognitive level, we process those words differently. Later, maybe the waiter says, do you ‘want’ another glass of wine? You, of course, hear and cognitively process the word stream as do you ‘need’ another glass of wine. You can watch an animated video explaining ‘Want and Need’ and how it works at the bottom of this page.

Another ‘fix’ in the programme relates to just why people eat. So, during the programme, you will be asked when was the last time you ate in response to actual, physical hunger. Most people say: “Thinking about it, I haven’t been physically hungry for years”. And so we ask them: “Do you ever eat when you are bored, stressed, tired, lonely, depressed, sad, to reward yourself, when watching TV, or maybe just to please someone else?” Then, we do another reset, and so it goes on…
