Based on Proven Interventions

The psychology-focused treatment is based around empirically-proven interventions, including two components that are unique to the MWL product. At the core of the treatment is an upgraded version of the traditional Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. The new therapy developed by the founders has been the subject of several university presentations. Professor Windy Dryden, of Goldsmiths University, London, and Professor Philip Zimbardo, of Stanford University, San Francisco, have both endorsed their work.

Additionally the My Weigh Less treatment incorporates elements of the well-documented and researched Time Perspective Theories (TPT), as developed by Professor Philip Zimbardo and his team at Stanford University, in San Francisco. The treatment also benefits from recent developments in Neuroplasticity research, which has progressed with the advances in brain-imaging technology.

Neuroplastisity

The Neuroplasticity research has confirmed and changed our belief around two things. Firstly, that our brains never stop growing. Secondly, and maybe more importantly, our brains can adapt and continually change. We now know that you really can learn to think and behave differently, regardless of your age. In effect, your brain can be reprogrammed. That is what the Shirrans have been saying and doing for ten years!

At the centre of the My Weigh Less Treatment is their unique ‘Forensic Weight-Loss Questionnaire’. Developed over two years the 80 question document is designed to reveal past learned behaviours around food and eating habits. Additionally, using ‘cluster’ question techniques, it cleverly reveals a range of changeable issues relating to obesity, and permanent weight loss. Weight Loss Press.
