Fatty Liver Can Be Reversed
and as technology, medical science, and our own understanding of health and disease evolves, we’re seeing a sharp increase in people who suffer from liver diseases and associated problems. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) used to be a rare disorder, but nowadays, it’s estimated to affect about 25% of the population in most Western countries and as many as 1 billion people worldwide. There’s also an increasing number of people with alcoholic fatty liver disease. Learn on this page how you can reverse fatty liver disease naturally.
how it impacts our health, and why diet may play a large role in how your liver functions. The liver is the largest internal organ in the body. It has many essential functions, including producing bile to break down the fats that we eat, filtering the blood, metabolising chemicals and toxins, converting excess glucose into glycogen for storage, and producing cholesterol to transport fats through the body. Read below to learn about the two types of fatty liver, one caused by alcohol and one not, and about how we can take action to reverse them.
So, fatty liver disease is not just an unpleasant side effect of diabetes, insulin resistance, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol. It causes inflammation, and can actually lead to serious consequences, such as cirrhosis of the liver. Cirrhosis causes the death of liver tissue, which means you would require a transplant to stay alive.
Primary causes of fatty liver disease include obesity and lack of exercise, high triglycerides and cholesterol, along with poor blood sugar control. And of course, let’s not forget alcohol as a potential cause. Also, this may come as a surprise to you, but contrary to popular belief, dietary fat is NOT the culprit in fatty liver disease, it’s actually SUGAR! The most important point to underline about the problem is that it arises from a sedentary lifestyle and poor nutrition habits, not from a physical ailment.
When you have fatty liver disease, your bile can build up in your blood, leading to yellow discolouration on your skin and the whites of your eyes. Luckily, natural remedies are an effective way to combat fatty liver disease and return your liver to a healthy condition. These natural remedies include eating fewer carbs and more protein, drinking plenty of water every day, getting moderate exercise like walking on a daily basis (20 minutes minimum) and breaking some bad habits like overeating sugary foods. Fatty Liver Can Be Reversed.
Most people know fatty liver disease as a medical term. But what they may not realise is that there are two different types: non-alcoholic and alcoholic. Alcoholic fatty liver disease is alcohol induced, as the name suggests. This condition affects those who drink with excess frequency, exceeding two units of alcohol per day for women and three units of alcohol per day for men. It can be asymptomatic, but if it is not, the sufferer might suffer from nausea, vomiting, bloating and loss of appetite.
On the other hand, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is not related to alcohol at all but is mainly caused by poor diet and lack of exercise. If you’re obese or overweight, according to the NHS, then your risk of developing fatty liver disease is increased. Thought you’d avoid fatty liver just because you don’t drink alcohol? Well, think again! One of the most common symptoms is pain on the right side under the rib cage. Other symptoms include dark-coloured urine, yellowed skin, greasy stools, and an abnormal appetite or unexplained weight gain.

A new research study published in the journal BMC Gastroenterology found that the number of people with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease has tripled between 2000 and 2010. NAFLD is now becoming one of the most prominent causes of liver disease worldwide. It’s not surprising that even more people are now at higher risk for conditions like type 2 diabetes, liver cancer and cardiovascular diseases – all of which are related to being overweight or obese! How long to reverse fatty liver disease.
Factors such as other medical conditions, medications taken, and other lifestyle habits should be considered. The age, weight, diet, hours of exercise, and severity of the disease will all have an impact on the results. However, one thing remains constant – patience. There is no quick fix or magic pill that will get rid of your fatty liver disease. The best way forward is through lifestyle change, such as adopting a healthy diet, altering the type of food eaten and losing weight.
so you’ll want to start eating nutrient-dense foods. These include dark leafy vegetables, avocados, coconut oil, olives, nuts, and high-quality protein, such as oily fish and grass-fed beef. refined sugars, sweets, white bread, pasta, desserts, carbonated sugary drinks, alcohol, trans fats/processed vegetable oils. Foods high in fibre are healthy because they are filling. High-fibre foods are found in fruits and vegetables.
Here are some dietary and lifestyle changes that may be able to help ease the symptoms of fatty liver disease: You should avoid all sugary foods and processed meats along with ultra-processed foods, which are high in trans fats. It is essential to increase the consumption of soluble fibre, such as vegetables and fruits which can help control that unhealthy sweet tooth that beckons for you during times of stress. You should, of course, manage your stress levels whilst limiting your consumption of alcohol and sugary drinks and drink plenty of water instead. Take steps to treat high cholesterol, lose weight and increase your physical activity.
Alan, in the photo above, reversed his fatty liver disease and was borderline diabetic 18 months ago, along with several other health issues. These included liver function (fatty liver disease), hugely high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. My Consultant at Kingston Hospital London looked up and said, “If you don’t lose some weight right now, You will probably die from a heart attack or stroke!” I’ve now lost over five stone (75 pounds) following the guidelines provided by My Weigh Less. Also, all of my health issues are now completely normal. All of this is officially confirmed by my consultants at London’s Kingston Hospital. As we navigate the challenges of the 21st century, the surge in liver diseases, mainly non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), has become an alarming reality. Once considered rare, NAFLD now affects approximately 25% of the population in Western countries and up to 1 billion people globally. In this article, we’ve delved into what fatty liver disease entails, its implications for our well-being, and the pivotal role diet plays in liver function.
Fatty liver disease isn’t merely an inconvenient byproduct of conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol; it poses serious health risks, including the potential for liver cirrhosis. The primary culprits behind this condition are obesity, sedentary lifestyles, poor blood sugar control, and, surprisingly, sugar rather than dietary fat.
Fatty Liver Can Be Reversed
But the good news is that fatty liver disease can be reversed naturally. Effective remedies include dietary adjustments like reducing carbohydrate intake, consuming more protein, and staying hydrated. Incorporating regular exercise, such as daily walks, and breaking unhealthy eating habits are crucial steps to take.
It’s essential to recognise that there are two distinct types of fatty liver disease: alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Alcohol-induced fatty liver disease results from excessive alcohol consumption, while non-alcoholic fatty liver disease stems from poor diet and a lack of exercise, predominantly affecting those who are overweight or obese.
A recent study revealed that cases of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease have tripled in the last decade, underlining the urgency of addressing this issue. The implications of fatty liver disease extend beyond liver health, contributing to conditions like type 2 diabetes, liver cancer, and cardiovascular diseases.
Reversing fatty liver disease isn’t a one-size-fits-all endeavour. It depends on various factors, including age, weight, lifestyle, and disease severity. Patience is paramount, as there are no quick fixes. Lifestyle changes, such as adopting a healthy diet and shedding excess weight, offer the most promising path forward.
Prioritise nutrient-dense foods, avoid refined sugars and processed items and opt for high-fibre filling options like fruits and vegetables. Alongside dietary adjustments, managing stress, reducing alcohol and sugary drink consumption, and staying well-hydrated is essential. Addressing high cholesterol, weight management, and increased physical activity also play pivotal roles.

His journey reflects the potential for positive outcomes when individuals take control of their health and embark on a path to reverse fatty liver disease naturally.

Our psychology-focused weight loss programme provides a ‘Psychological Reset’ for those wishing to lose weight. The programme incorporates an updated version of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, TCBT, which is the subject of our bestselling book, published globally by Hay House. Professor Windy Dryden of Goldsmiths University in London endorsed the book, and Professor Philip Zimbardo of Stanford University in the USA wrote the foreword. We also incorporate the latest developments around Neuroplasticity and Neuro-Linguistic Programming along with many other disciplines. One component of our psychology-focused weight loss programme provides a ‘Psychological Reset’. At this statement, ‘Psychological Reset,’ we have observed many people raising their eyebrows; see below.
Let me give you a couple of examples: the programme will allow you to make a number of simple cognitive changes in your thought processes…small changes that deliver ‘massive results’. For example, think for a moment how different your relationship with food and weight loss would be if we re-programmed your subconscious mind to effortlessly replace the word “want” with the word “need”? The result, imagine you are out having dinner with friends, and after ordering a burger, instead of hearing the waiter asking: “Do you ‘want’ fries with that?” without thinking, you hear and automatically process the question as: “Do you ‘need’ fries with that?” Things would be very different, right? You see, at a cognitive level, we process those words differently. Later, maybe the waiter says, do you ‘want’ another glass of wine? You, of course, hear and cognitively process the word stream as do you ‘need’ another glass of wine. You can watch an animated video explaining ‘Want and Need’ and how it works at the bottom of this page.
Another ‘fix’ in the programme relates to just why people eat. So, during the programme, you will be asked when was the last time you ate in response to actual, physical hunger. Most people say: “Thinking about it, I haven’t been physically hungry for years”. And so we ask them: “Do you ever eat when you are bored, stressed, tired, lonely, depressed, sad, to reward yourself, when watching TV, or maybe just to please someone else?” Then, we do another reset, and so it goes on…
