Be The Star…You Deserve It…

Like thousands of others, you will probably have looked at the often unbelievable before and after photographs and stories of successful dieters in the media. Most companies in the weight-loss industry group them together in the ‘Success Stories’ section of their website. They are valuable marketing tools aimed at demonstrating the effectiveness of a company’s products.

Often, the ‘successful dieter’ will reap rewards, enjoying VIP visits to London or even New York to be interviewed on TV. They will typically receive celebrity makeovers and, in many cases, receive a financial payment to cover all expenses and for their time. We will share a little more about that later.

Anyone who has tried and failed at dieting knows that it can be challenging. It takes both time and effort and if you want the results to be permanent, then you will need to make a few lifestyle changes. But have you ever thought just what the difference is between people who succeed in losing weight and people who don’t? Over the years, we have undertaken our own research on the subject. After completing over 15,000 1:1 clinical treatment hours with more than one thousand overweight people, we have gathered a considerable depth of knowledge.

We have incorporated most of our findings around successful dieters into the ‘Award-Winning My Weigh Less Programme’. You can read detailed information about the treatment on the pages of this site. So, what are the traits of a successful dieter? And, to be honest, to us at least, they are typically clearly visible from the outset. The main ‘trait’, in our opinion, is willpower. I guess you have read or heard that before, but I am talking about it in an almost ‘Clinical Capacity’. Hello, Magazine featured our work.

How You Can Be a Weight Loss Success Story

In our treatment, we spend hours talking about ‘willpower’. Most people will initially state: “Of course, I am committed to this diet, and I have the willpower to succeed”. However, research on a global basis confirms that in over 90% of cases, that is not the case. So what goes wrong? Why do almost all fail multiple times?

Well let me ask you a question… It is a medical fact that if you wanted to, that is really wanted to, then in twenty weeks’ time, you could if you wanted to be 40 pounds lighter than you are today, that’s roughly based on you achieving a 2 pound perweek weight loss. So could you do it? Do you really want the 40-pound weight loss enough? But say, tonight, you are unexpectedly invited to join friends for a pizza and a glass or two of wine, guaranteed to result in weight gain. Would you cave in and accept the invitation., or would you decline the invitation and take a step closer to your 40-pound weight loss. Which would you choose…?

My Weigh Less

Maybe it’s easy right now, on day one, to sit there and say that you would make the right choice. And, to be fair, maybe you would. But how about if that invite to pizza came at you every few days for the next twenty weeks!!! That is why ‘willpower’ is such an important component.

If you are wondering how, or if, you can increase your level of willpower, then let us share a little-known piece of information with you. It’s believed that willpower can be thought of as being similar to a hormone, but one which depreciates during the course of the day. Don’t be surprised by that; a number of hormones in our body have fluctuating levels during a 24-hour period. The only way that the willpower hormone can be replenished is by rest and sleep, like many others. So when you wake in the morning, you have a ‘full tank’ which slowly drains away during the day. So, by early evening, you will have virtually exhausted your reserves, and the tank is empty. That’s the danger period for a dieter.

sleep more weigh less

This fits in with observations about those who are trying to overcome different addictions. As an example, smokers trying to kick the habit seldom ‘cave in’ early in the morning and light up a cigarette. This is the same with cocaine addicts. Research shows that the majority of people cave into their desires and cravings for addictive substances at around 8.00 p.m. We have worked with over a thousand dieters who have reported something similar, saying that if they are going to ‘Blow the Diet,’ it is most likely to happen in the early evening. The takeaway from that is to ensure that you are aware and prepared for the lack of willpower in the evenings and ensure you get the required amount of good-quality sleep.

During the My Weigh Less sessions, I introduce clients to an approach that I call ’Going There First’. I ask them to find a ten-minute slot in their day where they can sit down or, better still, lay down on their sofa or bed. The room is best if it is dark, or at least the curtains are drawn. It’s also best if they can relax knowing that they are not going to be disturbed. Then I ask them to clear their mind, let any stress vaporise and visualise themselves in twenty weeks’ time.

How You Can Be a Weight Loss Success Story

I want them to see the whole picture: the new clothes they are wearing, the make-up they have on, maybe the new hairstyle, and to be able to smell the new perfume. I need them to be aware of the incredible feeling of self-confidence they are experiencing. They will also need to be aware of all the positive comments they are receiving about their weight loss. It is essential that they are totally immersed in the moment.

I ask them to just stay in that place for a few minutes to enjoy the feeling of accomplishment of reaching their goal; they will be floating on a bed of heightened self-confidence. Finally, I tell them to remember that picture, that feeling, to lock it into their mind. Why…? Because as they go through those twenty weeks, when the invites and temptations of pizza, or whatever it is, continue to knock on their door relentlessly, it is that picture and visualisation alone which will deliver them to the 40-pound weight loss.

How You Can Be a Weight-Loss Success Story

For any weight-loss attempt to succeed, you first need to set a realistic and achievable goal. Any target that you set yourself on your weight-loss journey should be realistic, specific and non-negotiable. Many people find it easier to set small, quickly reachable goals, such as maybe losing the first five pounds: this is often referred to as ‘Chunking’. For many people, this approach can be very motivational.

Once you have your target set, you need to decide which dieting approach you are going to use. It is vital that you select one that fits in as much as possible with your lifestyle. One of the reasons weight loss is so difficult is that many people view it as a chore. But, if you are only thinking about what foods you cannot eat, you end up feeling deprived. So, a much more positive approach instead is to focus your mind on all the wonderful, flavoursome foods that you can eat and enjoy. Read below about the My Weigh Less, Medically Endorsed Programme. Our Top Faqs

FAQ 1. What is the key to becoming a successful weight-loss story?

Answer: The key to successful weight loss often lies in setting realistic and non-negotiable goals. It’s essential to establish achievable targets that are specific and suited to your lifestyle. Consider adopting an approach that focuses on what you can eat and enjoy rather than what you can’t.

FAQ 2. Why are before and after photographs and success stories valuable in the weight-loss industry?

Answer: Before and after photographs and success stories serve as powerful marketing tools for weight-loss companies, demonstrating the effectiveness of their products or programs. Successful dieters may even receive rewards, such as VIP experiences, makeovers, and financial compensation.

FAQ 3. What traits do successful dieters typically possess?

Answer: Successful dieters often exhibit strong willpower, a crucial component in achieving and maintaining weight loss. Willpower is like a “hormone” that can be depleted throughout the day and must be replenished through rest and sleep.

FAQ 4. How can one increase their willpower and resist temptations on a weight loss journey?

Answer: Willpower can be thought of as a depletable resource, much like a hormone. To maintain willpower, ensure you get enough good-quality sleep, especially during the evening hours when it tends to be most depleted. Visualization exercises can also help you stay focused on your weight loss goals.

FAQ 5. What are some common pitfalls when trying to overcome weight issues?

Answer: A common pitfall is losing motivation when faced with repeated temptations and invites for unhealthy food. These temptations often occur in the evening when willpower is low. Being aware of this and ensuring sufficient sleep can help counteract these pitfalls.

FAQ 6. How can visualisation help with weight loss success?

Answer: Visualisation is a powerful tool for weight loss success. It involves mentally immersing yourself in your future self, imagining the positive changes and success you’ll experience after reaching your goal. Visualizing your desired outcome can help maintain motivation and focus.

FAQ 7. Can you share success stories and examples of clients who have achieved significant weight loss?

Answer: Yes, there are several success stories and verified case studies of clients who have lost substantial weight and improved their health. These stories often include before and after photographs and can be found on this website, showcasing real-life transformations and experiences.

FAQ 8. What should individuals consider when choosing a weight loss approach or program?

Answer: When selecting a weight loss approach or program, it’s crucial to set achievable goals and choose a plan that aligns with your lifestyle. Focusing on what you can eat and enjoy rather than what you can’t can lead to a more positive and sustainable weight loss journey. The My Weigh Less, Medically Endorsed Programme is one such option worth exploring for effective weight loss.

Our psychology-focused weight loss programme provides a ‘Psychological Reset’ for those wishing to lose weight. The programme incorporates an updated version of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, TCBT, which is the subject of our bestselling book, published globally by Hay House. Professor Windy Dryden of Goldsmiths University in London endorsed the book, and Professor Philip Zimbardo of Stanford University in the USA wrote the foreword. We also incorporate the latest developments around Neuroplasticity and Neuro-Linguistic Programming along with many other disciplines. One component of our psychology-focused weight loss programme provides a ‘Psychological Reset’. At this statement, ‘Psychological Reset,’ we have observed many people raising their eyebrows; see below.

Let me give you a couple of examples: the programme will allow you to make a number of simple cognitive changes in your thought processes…small changes that deliver ‘massive results’. For example, think for a moment how different your relationship with food and weight loss would be if we re-programmed your subconscious mind to effortlessly replace the word “want” with the word “need”? The result, imagine you are out having dinner with friends, and after ordering a burger, instead of hearing the waiter asking: “Do you ‘want’ fries with that?” without thinking, you hear and automatically process the question as: “Do you ‘need’ fries with that?” Things would be very different, right? You see, at a cognitive level, we process those words differently. Later, maybe the waiter says, do you ‘want’ another glass of wine? You, of course, hear and cognitively process the word stream as do you ‘need’ another glass of wine. You can watch an animated video explaining ‘Want and Need’ and how it works at the bottom of this page.

Another ‘fix’ in the programme relates to just why people eat. So, during the programme, you will be asked when was the last time you ate in response to actual, physical hunger. Most people say: “Thinking about it, I haven’t been physically hungry for years”. And so we ask them: “Do you ever eat when you are bored, stressed, tired, lonely, depressed, sad, to reward yourself, when watching TV, or maybe just to please someone else?” Then, we do another reset, and so it goes on…
